Twenty-three years ago, Sam Sorgiovanni decided to follow his dream to open his own design studio in Fremantle, Western Australia. He has since created many bespoke interior and exterior yacht designs like the two 88.5m/290ft Oceanco’s Nirvana and Barbara, 82m/270ft Abeking & Rasmussen Secret, the 126m/413ft Lürssen Octopus, to name only a few.
Sam Sorgiovanni travels the world to consult with his clients to find out just what they want in a yacht. Australia is miles and hours away from all other continents and time is of the essence. Thus, today, another of his dreams came true: the opening of a representative office in Monaco. Michele Flandin, who is no stranger to the industry having spent 25 years in yachting including 12 years as Oceanco’s Marketing Manager, will run the new office and proudly represent Sorgiovanni Designs.
“I have known Sam for over 12 years and since he designed Wheels (ex. Anastasia), a splendid 75.5m/248ft Oceanco, I have always been seduced by every very unique yacht he creates. His signature is like no other. I am honoured to be given the opportunity to join forces with Sam and intend to continue to build awareness for Sorgiovanni Designs and to drive new business.”- Michele Flandin
Sam Sorgiovanni believes in excellence in all his work and demands the best in materials and products for his designs and doesn’t hesitate to recommend Australian parts when he knows they meet his high standards. He points to his country of Australia as giving him some of the inspiration used in creating his unique designs. Since Australians enjoy the distinction of living on the largest island in the world, the lifestyle and climate of Australia play a large part in his interest of and passion for the world of ships. It’s proximity to Asian countries provides yet another reason for design inspiration.
“I am thrilled to have Michele join our team as Public Relations & Marketing Manager and am very excited about the new Monaco venture. As we continue to grow, I know her experience and expertise are exactly what we need to consolidate our reputation in the European market.”

Now also based in Monaco, in the heart of the luxury yachting capital, Sorgiovanni Designs will no doubt be at the origin of new magnificent yachts cruising on the sparkling horizon of the bay.
