The Italian luxury yachting industry took centre stage in New York once again, joining the “Italy on Madison” event organised by the Italian Trade Agency which, for its fourth edition, brought over 200 Made in Italy brands to Manhattan. From 12 to 15 May, the Italian Trade Agency’s New York townhouse on Madison Avenue transformed into the quintessential venue for promoting Made in Italy excellence, providing four days of talks, workshops, meetings, performances, installations and tasting events, a plethora of activities dedicated to the design, fashion, beauty, food, wine and wellness industries, inspired by the theme “Italy Takes the Stage”.
During the event, the 66th Genoa International Boat Show – scheduled to take place from 1 to 6 October – presented a key panel of its own, hosting the second edition of the talk “Yachting Design in Motion – from Exteriors to Interiors”, two years on from its debut in Manhattan.
The talk, organised in collaboration with the Italian Trade Agency’s offices in Miami and New York, once again provided an opportunity to strengthen Italy’s presence in the US yachting sector, with the aim of showcasing the unique characteristics and excellence of Italian boatbuilding and its successful synergy with the world of interior design and Italian craftsmanship.
Moderated by Khoi Vo, Chief Executive Officer of ASID (the American Society of Interior Designers), the discussion featured Stefano Pagani Isnardi – Head of the Research Department at Confindustria Nautica, Paolo Trevisan – SVP of Design at Pininfarina of America, and Francesco Secchiaroli – VP of Sales at Poltrona Frau Americas.
The panel took place before an enthusiastic and engaged audience, exploring the many facets of the increasingly strong link connecting Italian yachts and the Made in Italy design and furniture sector, with a particular focus on emerging trends in global demand and the expectations of new yacht owners. The discussion also explored how external performance, interior experience, innovation, craftsmanship and Italian design culture are blending seamlessly to shape the future of luxury environments, and how yacht design is influencing the way people conceive of experiential living.
