Cosmos Heesen Yachts The One Yacht and Design-01

The huge 80m Project Cosmos Heesen Yachts revealed at Monaco is a real record-breaker: she will not only be their largest build to date but, at 29 knots, also the fastest in her class. The brief was for a very complex marriage of speed, size and seductive sports car wow-factor that forced Heesen to devise new ways of imparting longitudinal strength without adding extra weight to the overall structure. The result is the patented ‘Backbone’, which is similar to the I-beams used in civil engineering projects. That 29-knot top speed will be delivered by a Fast Displacement Hull Form sporting four MTU engines with two controllable pitch propellers unleashing a massive 19,000 hp. Heesen called in some heavy design guns for Project Cosmos: Winch Design penned the sleek, contemporary exterior lines and an astonishing 270 sqm sun deck, while Sinot of Galactica Super Nova fame produced interiors inspired by nature (straw marquetry, natural leather wall panelling, etc.) and mathematics (the Fibonacci sequence). Twelve guests will luxuriate in four guest suites on the lower deck, a VIP with adjacent private study on the bridge deck, and a stunning master forward on the main.
