The Valencia Boat Show hosted this morning the media presentation of its 11th edition, which will be held from the 30th of October to the 3rd of November in La Marina de València, organised by the Union of Nautical Companies (UEN) and Consorcio Valencia 2007, the managing body of La Marina de València. The presentation was hosted in a privileged setting at sea, on board the catamaran Boramar, moored next to ‘La Base’, former base of the America’s Cup Alinghi team, which will be one of the venues for free activities that will be open to the public of the event.

The event was attended by the director of the event, Nacho Gómez-Zarzuela, the president of the Union of Nautical Companies (UEN), Isabel Gil, the general director of La Marina de València, Vicent Llorens, the deputy of Tourism, Jordi Mayor, and the general director of Turismo Valencia, Toni Bernabé.

A strategic combination open to everyone
For this 11th edition, the Valencia Boat Show features an expanded and revamped offer that strategically combines the professional area of exhibition and sale of new boats and developments with a large area with free access open to the public that, every day and for all audiences, will host activities related to the sea. For five days, the Valencian dock will become a centre to discover and enjoy the sea and the Marina de València.

In the professional or Boatowners Area, the Valencia Boat Show will once again feature the leading boatyards and brands in the sector, presenting a selection of new boats, new developments, engines, accessories and marine services. In addition, the event is supplementing this exhibition offer with talks, water sports, gastronomy, innovation, tourism, cinema and an extensive programme of activities. And to top it all off, the celebration of the anniversary of La Marina de València with concerts, water sports and exhibitions.

The Valencia Boat Show, in its 2019 edition, will be open to the public and free with the exception of the professional or Boatowners area dedicated to the exhibition and sale of boats, engines, accessories and marine services.

Moreover, this year the Valencia Boat Show has Feria Valencia as a strategic partner, MAPFRE as official insurer, Citroën as official vehicle, Gipsy Gin as official gin and the sponsorship of MYachts, Cillar de Silos and Valencia Mar. It is also grateful for the collaboration of Alfatec, Tactic Audiovisual, the Valencian Community Sailing Federation, Decathlon, Helly Hansen and Valencia Premium, as well as the support of Turisme Comunitat Valenciana, València Turisme, Ajuntament de València, Fundación Deportiva Municipal, and Turismo Valencia.

The show reaches full capacity
This year, the Valencia Boat Show has managed to beat the record number of exhibitors and reach full house, with more than 90 companies present at the event, which together with the numerous parallel activities, will make the event the biggest in surface area in its history. Companies in the marine industry have had a very positive response in this edition of the event, with 40% of exhibitors being newcomers to the show.

Boatowners Area
The Boatowners Area, located between Tinglado Nº2 and La Base, will house the exhibition of new boats and new developments from the leading national and international boatyards. A working space with an exhibition pool created for professionals located next to the pontoons will allow boats to be tested at sea before buying them.

The Boatowners Area, which will have access by payment or invitation, will feature the leading brands in the sector and all the latest new developments of the year, including several models nominated for the prestigious awards “European Yacht of the Year” and “European Powerboat of the Year”, which will be awarded next January during the Düsseldorf Boat Show. An exhaustive and quality offer for lovers of the sea and sailing.

Expo & Market
Located in the Plaça de l’Ona in La Marina de València, next to The Base and at the foot of the Veles e Vents building, the Expo & Market area, with free access, will host an exhibition of clothing, accessories, associations, tour operators, agencies, federations, ports and marinas, as well as water sports such as surfing, paddle surfing, kayaking, diving, kite surfing and fishing, a gastronomic area, artistic interventions and the concerts of La Pérgola, which during the event are extending their programme and changing the performance location. Next to them, at the foot of Veles e Vents building, the Decathlon beach will offer visitors the possibility to try the material of the famous French brand in the water. Opposite, on the other side of the canal in the North Marina will be the Spanish Navy Offshore Patrol Vessel ‘Audaz’ which can be visited for free.

The Base
The Valencia Boat Show is recovering The Base, former base of the America’s Cup Alinghi team and a symbol of world sailing, to host the offer of 4.0 marine, start-ups and nautical innovation, as well as areas dedicated to culture, children’s workshops and nautical-themed cinema. It will also be the venue for events, talks, training courses and press conferences, which will be combined with exhibitions and other initiatives related to creativity and the culture of the sea. The Base will also be open to the public and have free access during the five days of the show.

Cub de les Comarques
The Cub de les Comarques, located between the Tinglado Nº2 and the Clock Building, will be another of the venues of this revamped Valencia Boat Show, and will host talks and meetings, such as the ‘1st Professional Meeting of nautical tourism’ where agencies organising national and local events can learn first-hand all about the Valencian nautical offer.

In addition, on Saturday the 2nd of November at 5 pm, the Valencia Boat Show will receive the visit of a delegation of international nautical tourism magazines from Germany, Italy, Ireland, Czech Republic, Austria, Norway and Denmark, who will participate in a round table at the Cub de les Comarques, in which the discussion will focus on the characteristics of the nautical tourist profile of their respective countries and the strengths of the marine sector in the Valencian Community.

In their own words:

Isabel Gil, President of the Union of Nautical Companies (UEN)
“Last year the decision was made to professionalize the event and we believe it was a very wise decision. For the first time it will be an event open to the public, an event for the city.”

Nacho Gómez-Zarzuela, director of the Valencia Boat Show
“All of us here agree that we have an event with a wonderful present but with an even better future that is as yet unimagined. This year we have focused on two factors: promoting sailing and especially the opening of the show to the public, turning the show into a festival of the sea. We want as many people as possible to come and everyone to take part in the Valencia Boat Show.”

Vicent Llorens, general director of La Marina de València
“The Marina de València is a space open to citizens. We had to open the way for a broader  concept of sailing and nautical activities, which is not a privileged sector. Discovering the sea does not have to be reserved for the few, because there are many ways to experience the sea.”

Toni Bernabé, director of Turismo Valencia
“This demonstrates how combining efforts brings very good results. It has enabled the show to take a significant qualitative leap. We have the best marina in the Mediterranean with the best professionals and in a city that has everything to offer.”

Jordi Mayor, deputy of Tourism
“Our aim is to attract new visitors, a greater number of tourists and offer a show that contributes to sustainability. We are seeing how Valencia is growing, the goal is for tourism to continue growing to become a sector that we can make a living from all year round.”
